Discover the Fun of These Seldom-Used Gems
Have you ever noticed the exercise trails that are often along roads or paths in parks?
I’ve passed by countless such trails, but never bothered to try them out.
Well, we finally did, and it was a hoot!
Along the campground entrance road in Letchworth State Park, in western NY, we noticed the colorful yellow signs and stations, and got the wild idea that we ought to give it a try.
What fun!!
Many of the exercises were head-scratchers or old-timey-jack-lalanne stuff. Some of them reminded me of old-school Army exercises, like the Bend and Reach, which gave me a chuckle.
Our communities often invest a lot of resources in these things with great intentions, but I don’t think I have ever noticed a single person utilizing them. That’s a shame. They’re fun and different and cool.
We had a lovely day to do it! We haven’t had much sunshine since being back up here in the Northeast. It was awesome to be together (we don’t work out together often, I can’t keep up with Jules!), outside in the sunshine, working up a good sweat, jogging a little between stations, and laughing at our failed attempts at many of the prescribed movements.
It was a great time. A decent workout. Good together time.
I’m a fan now! I’ll be keeping my eyes open for more of these in the communities we visit and making time in my training plan to give them a whirl.
How about you? Have you ever done any of these? What did you think?
Even our cities, states, and towns are investing in helping you stay stronger than your excuses. So, put that investment into action and have some fun doing it!
